Format: 16mm
RT: 3:00
Synopsis: I was on summer vacation when this project erupted from a can of free
film. With respect for my hometown, and a limited amount of raw stock, I chose each
shot deliberately. However, unforeseen, the opening shot of the film caused my
associate and attorney, Richard, along with myself, to be added to a Homeland Security
watch list. Scolding us for taking photos near a bridge, the Arkansas police sergeant
then took our pictures for the FBI.

Format: Digital 8
RT: 3:00
Synopsis: I was formerly a member of the Jumbotron production team at The
Pyramid Arena. Originally crewed by Memphis' own J.M.M., I worked alongside Alicja
and Rich, two members of The Lost Sounds, broadcasting in-house shows to scattered
and mildly enthusiastic attendees of such events as college basketball games, monster
truck shows, and high school graduations. One day I asked Alicja if The Lost Sounds
would like to do a music video. They chose the song and we went from there.

Rapitition "Midtown Groove" (2001)

Format: Digital 8
RT: 3:30
Synopsis: Da Zeez and I wanted to make a rap video, but first we needed a song. I
had always felt that Ace Frehley's "New York Groove" would make a popular hip-hop
sample, and I welcomed the opportunity to give it a try. However, sampling was not
my forte. So we borrowed a 4-track and started from scratch. Applying Ace's original
concept to the familiarity of midtown Memphis, we joined forces with the local ladies
and Rapitition exploded onto the scene.

Vegas Thunder "2-0-1" (2001)

Format: Digital 8
RT: 2:01
Anecdote/Synopsis: 201 Poplar is the locus for the Memphis and Shelby County jail.
Lead singer Joe spent the night there once for stealing a pack of Lucky Strikes from
Piggly Wiggly. That's what this song is about. Admittedly, Vegas Thunder's LP delivers
a fraction of the energy they produced live. Though this live music video indicates their
full potential, nothing beats having seen them in the flesh--garage-grade pyrotechnics and all.

Oblivians "You Better Behave " (1999) (UNOFFICIAL)

Format: 16mm
RT: 2:30
Anecdote/Synopsis: Produced during a workshop at The New York Film Academy,
this was my first attempt at filmmaking proper. Katherine's extensive talents are
sampled here by way of special effects make-up, music supervision, acting, and
conceptual brainstorming. Inspiring more than this film, the Oblivians' music had
defined an era in Memphis that was just ending. Did I choose their song, or did their
song choose me?
